난 요즘 당신이 생각납니다.
왜 생각이 나는지. 아마도 지금 삼십세를 앞에 두고 지나간 내 날들을 되새겨보다보니 내 인생에 있어 큰 영향ㅇ을 주었던 유럽여행과 연관이 있어서 그런가 봅니다
사실 왜 당신이 자꾸 생각나는지 모르겠습니다.
유치한 장난에 의해서인지 유난히 기억에 남는 것들 때문인지 모르겠습니다.
사실 난 여행을 하면서 다른 사람들이 꿈꾸는 로맨스를 일부러 흘리며 다녔습니다.
내가 그리그리 대단한 멋진 매력있는 사람은 아니지만 난 여행의 로맨스에 대해 경계를 했었죠. 여행에서 생기는 로맨스는 단지 그 사황에 의한 것이지 서로간의 인연이나 본질의 끌림에 의해 생기는 만남이 아니라고 생각했기 때문입니다.
난 아직도 그 당시를 잊을 수가 없긴 합니다.
처음 문을 열고 들어오는 당신과 동생의 모습을 요.
난 그리난 모델인줄 알았습니다. ㅎ적잔히 빼어난 미모의 두 여성의 모습과 다른 한국여행자와는 틀린 화려했던 의상들이 내게로 하여금 이런저런 생각들을 품게 만들었었죠.
돈 많은 여자들이 여행을 즐기려고 왔구나. 좋겠다. 나완 다른 사람들이구나하고 말이죠.
하지만 어째서인지 대화를 해보고 이런저런 일들을 겪으면서 당신과 동생에 대한 생각은 많이 달라지게됐지요.
그것이 지금까지도 기억에 남는 이유인것 같습니다. 가장기억에 남는건 탱고펍을 나온뒤 당신이 여행자숙소인 할아버지와 따뜻하게 말하며 걸어가는 장면이었습니다.
난 어릴적부터 할아버지,할머니와 함께 자랐는데
그래서 그 장면이 더욱 깊게 인상깊게 남지 않았을까 생각해봅니다.
사실 그렇게 하는건 쉽지 않은 일이기 때문이지요.
그리고 그렇게 파리로 이동하고 퐁피듀에서 만나기로 한다음 그때 난 세시간인가를 기다리며 많은 생각을 했습니다.
아 이렇게 못만나는 구나. 머 그럴수도 있지 여행인데 .
여행을 하면서 맘에 드는 사람과 약속이 어긋나 못만나는 일이 많았기 때문입니다.
아 지금까지 줒저리 주저리 말을 늘어놓았지만 이렇게 제가 메일을 보내는것이 폐가 되지 않을까 걱정이네요.

그 이후론그래도 그 당시 난 전혀 사랑이란 감정비슷한것이 느껴지지 않았습니다.
정확히 이야기 하면 큰 호의를 갖고 있었다고 해야 할까.
물론 지금도 그렇습니다. 큰호의. 다만 머릿속엔 계속 생각난다는 게 문제이긴 하지만요.
여행을 다녀온 이후 일년뒤 부터 생각이 났을 겁니다.
여행이란 폭죽과도 같은 화려함이 일년뒤쯤엔 가라앉고 그 중 중요한 것들만 떠오르게 마련이니까요.
그때 난 생당신생각이 나서 싸이월드를 통해 사진을 보게 되었습니다.
그때쯤인지 당신은 벌써 유학준비를 하고 있더라구요.
그 때 서부터 지금까지 당신은 이미 멀리 떠나간 사람입니다.
나와 같은 평범한 사람에 비하면 말이죠ㅛ.
여러언어를 구사하며 각국사람들과 그리고 만났던 많은 사람들과의 관계를 갖는 모습은 이미 나로선 동경의 마음까지 품게 만들더군요. 점점 닿을 수 없는, 손을 뻗을 수도 없ㄴ는 그런곳으로 간거 갔은 느낌은ㄹ 받은 겁니다.
그리고 지금 .
난 부끄럽지만 내 이십대의 마지막을 정리하며 이렇게 메일을 보내게 된것입니다.
내가 생각했던 것들 뭐 그리 나쁜 내용도 아니니 이렇게 보내도 된다고 생깍하고있습니다. 음....자기합리화인ㄹ지도 모르지만.
난 새롭게 완전 무결의 상태로 삽십대를 준비하고 싶습ㄴ디다.
