일반적으로 모두들 알다 시피 신용카드는 아예 사용을 하지 않는게 좋다.
그 이유는
- 현재와 같은 시대에 온라인 구매가 너무나 쉽다.
- 돈을 쓴다는 감각을 느끼질 못해 생각보다 많은 돈을 쓰게 된다.
- 무엇엔가 돈을 쓴 뒤 약 2달이 지나서야 그 사실을 깨닫게 된다. 하지만 그것을 깨달을 즈음에도 무언가에 돈을 쓰고 있다.
- 카드 혜택을 아무리 다 받아봐야 내가 과소비한 한것에 비하면 터무니 없이 적다.
위 와 같을 것이다.
하지만 카드가 여러모로 혜택도 많고 꼭 써야 할 때도 많아 사용하지 않기란 쉽지 않다.
따라서 이왕 카드를 쓸꺼면 카드사의 혜택도 혜택이지만 '지출했었다'란 사실을 최대한 느끼며 써야 하는 것이다.
위 처럼 매달 1일을 결제일로 할 경우 전전달중순에 쓴 것부터 내야 한다.
하지만 결제일을 17일쯤으로 할경우 전달의 지출내용에 대해서 결제하면 되기때문에 보다 계획에 맞는 지출을 하기 쉽다. 왜냐하면 매달 초가 되면 자기가 저번달에 얼마정도 썼는지 확인이 될 것이며 그것을 바탕으로 이번달 지출을 조정할 수 있게 되는 것이다. 즉, 월단위로 지출에 대한 반성과 그에 따른 지출이 가능 하다는 것이다.
이렇게 '전월초~전월말'로 맞추기 위해선 우리가 알아야 할 것이 있는데 그것은 '신용카드 공여기간'이란 것이다.
이것이 뭐냐 하면 내가 무언가를 샀을 때 그 비용이 언제 내 지갑에서 빠져나가는 것인지를 말하는 것이다(이 기간이 짧으면 짧을 수록 카드회사는 비용부담[카드고객이 지출한 비용]에서 빨리 벗어나게 된다)
이것은 카드회사마다 각기 다르기 때문에
당신이 가지고 있는 카드의 공여기간 '전월1일~전월말일'에 맞는 카드 결제일을 선택하도록 한다.
참고) 신용카드사별 공여기간(Korea Creditcard Giving Period)
그리고 덭붙여 말하면 위와 같이 카드결제일을 '전월1일~전월말일'의 공여기간으로 맞춘뒤에는 매달 25일 이후엔 카드 사용을 자제 하도록 한다. 왜냐하면 카드는 '승인일자'와 '결제일자'가 다르기 때문이다.
'승인일자'는 당신이 카드를 긁은 그 시간을 말하며 '결제일자'는 카드를 긁고 그 내용이 카드사로 통보가 되어 수락된 그 날을 의미한다.
이것은 대개 3일정도 걸리는데 비영업일까지 염두해둘 경우 넉넉히 5일정도 되기 때문이다.
결제는 '승인일자'가 아닌 '결제일자'기준으로 이뤄진다.
따라서 25일 이후에는 카드 사용을 하지 않음으로써 이번달 말에 사용한 금액의 '결제일자'가 다음달로 넘어가는 경우를 피하기 위해서다. 왜 이렇게 하냐면 신용카드는 대개 실적 기준치가 있는데 이 기준치를 넘어가도록 써봤자 별 혜택이 없기 때문이다(사용금액에 따라 비율로 혜택을 주는 카드는 제외)
위와 같이 계획적으로 카드 사용을 하여 어차피 사용하는 카드를 최대한 절제하며 혜택을 누려 사용하도록 하자.
