캔싱턴 트랙볼 마우스(Kensington Track Ball Mouse)

얼마전 우연히 캔싱턴 트랙볼 마우스에 대해서 봤었다.

손목이 아픈 VDT증후군의 관점에서 보면 트랙볼마우스가 상당히 괜찮다는 말도 들었던 차라 이전 보다 더 관심이 갔다. 현재 옥션이나 쥐마켓에서 약 16만원 정도의 가격에 팔리고 있었다. 물론 사용자들은 대 만족감을 표현하고 있었다.



이전 Expert 7.0은 워낙 많은 사람들이 써보고 호평도 많이 받았던 제품이라 이 제품을 살까했는데 마음을 바꾸었다. 왜냐하면 이번달 말에 신제품이 나온단 이야기를 본 것이다.


바로 이것이다. 생김새부터가 워낙 날렵하고 마음에 든다.

간결함이 맥과도 잘 어울릴꺼 같아서 기다렸다가 이것을 사기로 했다.

좀  더 살펴보니 출시일과 가격이 아래와 같았다.


A trackball? In 2009? Indeed, Kensington is going retro with a new design that they claim is the first to "allow users to navigate and manipulate digital content through the ball itself."

With all functionality now integrated into the ball, users can control all the many interface functions that support navigation, media control adjustments, document and photo browsing with the rotation of the ball. And the low profile stationary design with its ruby red ball sitting atop a sleek gunmetal gray base is visually striking, takes up minimal desk space, and enables a relaxed and comfortable user experience, without the need of a wrist pad.

Is the trackball poised for a comeback in an era of touchscreens? I can see how a trackball could make handling digital content easier than a standard mouse, but there is a $130 barrier to entry when the device is released at the end of January.

현재환율로 계산해보면 대략 18만원정도인데 운임비등등을 생가하면 약 21만원선에 나오지 않을까 생각된다.

21만원주고 새로운 버전을 사느냐 이미 호평을 받은 16만원 이전버전을 사느냐 고민이 되긴 하지만 일단 좀 더 기다려 보기로 했다. 신제품이 나오자마자 호평을 받는다면 문제될 건 없겠지만...
